The goals of biodynamic agriculture is to create a closed farm organism, in which the coexistence between humans, animals and plants plays a decisive role. With the OXEN project and the GRANDORTO project we want to get closer to the ideal of the closed cycle and create more diversity in the vineyard.
Native oxen that spend 365 days a year outdoors - this is unique for an Alpine region such as Alto Adige. Together with cheese maker Alexander Agethle, we want to let them live in a species-appropriate manner and to value native cattle in a region where they have largely been supplanted in importance by the dairy cow.
We have cultivated a garden within our vineyards in which a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, herbs and grains both grow and thrive.
