In 1995 the grapes on this site were of such outstanding quality that Luis von Dellemann, our winemaker at the time, decided to produce a very special wine – and the MCM, a single-variety Merlot, was born. As it was to be launched at the turn of the millennium, the label was specially designed with the Roman numeral for 1900, and this symbolism is now the trademark of the wine.

At the southern foot of the Magrè talus cone lies a wine-growing site known by the dialect name of Punggl, which has been noted and esteemed for its wines over the centuries. In the middle of the 1950s, the former owner of Hirschprunn planted Merlot vines there, because they had delivered such good results in the decades before. The heart of that site delivers the foundations for our MCM. Depending on the year, we now select varying quantities of top quality grapes there, which are used exclusively to make our MCM.
